"This is a reason as to why I *don't* have a facebook.... "
Facebook is just a website. What you get out of it is directly influenced by the people you add to it, and how intimate you choose to be on there.
You can lock anyone out but the people you absolutely trust, and you can say only the things you don't care about getting around.
I consider myself a special case - I know people talk a ton of smack, the same people who smile sweetly to my face or still keep up with me even though I've moved. I know that some of the things I say and do will feed the fire, too - pictures I upload, for instance - and it doesn't make me change my behavior in the slightest.
I just. . . don't mind. I've heard these same girls say terrible, absolutely hideous things about their other friends, too, to me. If a person will talk smack TO you about someone else, they're talking smack ABOUT you just the same.
It's how some people operate, and it doesn't make a difference to me. You can -say- anything you'd like, I can say the sky is purple and rains down Pomeranian puppies with AIDS, what difference does it make?
Facebook doesn't cause these problems. Personalities do.
There's nothing to handle. I mean, maybe talk to Adam and say someone is spreading lies, and he needs to be a grown up husband and trust you if he hears something, but other than that. . . it's really a lose/lose situation. :(
Either you let her keep talking until she's done, or you confront her and things get more dramatic/complicated. I think the best bet for your sanity is to pretend it isn't happening. People in that town gossip like it's their job, no one's ever been able to stop them before now.
Bekah - yeah, see, my girls pics are all over the place anyway... makes no difference. I don't have any strangers on my FB, other than some CP girls. Mostly, it's family and friends. But... I still wouldn't post anything there I wouldn't want shown all over. NOTHING on the internet is private. Nothing.
