Hiya! I'm new - new to this site, new to Havelock, new to the Corps., and brand new to being pregnant!

I aced three DIY pregnancy tests (because I am a natural skeptic, I think), but I haven't seen a doctor yet.

I know exactly which Dr I would go visit back home in Kansas City, but that doesn't help me any. I don't know anything about anyone out here. I'm on Tricare Standard at the moment, so I don't get the shiny gov referral.

Does anyone have any insight on the OB/GYNs in the area? Thankies!! :) 

Welcome and congrats! I go to Dr. Tinga at Eastern Carolina Women's Center and see only him, but I am a repeat C/S.
They have an office here in Havelock and one in New Bern. We are also on Standard and when I got pregnant, I just called the office and they had me come in and pee in a cup for them, lol. After that you will see the OB nurse in New Bern and do all the fun paper and blood work. 

You will find several threads on this topic if you search. Several people love and hate almost all the offices here.

Dr. Conrad in Morehead is a favorite with everyone that goes though. She books fast so call asap!

I'm on Standard as well. Carteret OBGYN has been awesome to me! Love love LOVE them! ECWC was awful to me! Will never step foot in there again. (Specifically Dr. Patterson at ECWC.)

So, essentially, we have Carteret in Morehead City and ECWC in New Bern to choose from? Cool, that's at least some where to start. Thank you!! :)

Do these two offices deliver at different hospitals, or the same place? ... I don't even know what hospitals are in the area. lol.

So true! He delivered both my children and was AMAZING!!!! 

They deliver at 2 different hospitals. ECWC delivers in New Bern, and people in Morehead deliver at Carteret.

When we moved back and I was pregnant, I actully chose my ped first and then chose an OB since we are all on Standard. That might be something for you to think about. I wanted a ped who was close, and had weekend hours if needed. I went with Coastal Children's. They have an office here in Havelock, in the same plaza as ECWC. They have urgent/emergency hours on Saturday and Sunday and a doc on call 24/7 if needed. I have never had an issue getting a same day sick appt there.
Are you going to stay on Standard? What about the baby? 

Coastal Children's only have privileges in New Bern by the way. They also have a webpage if you google them. 

I love Dr. Conrad. she has delivered all three of my girls! 

Dr. Conrad is AWESOME!!! She sees you at every visit and delivers you. She delivers at Morehead. I highly recommend her. 

Eastern Carolina Women's center is where most go. I love, love, love Dr. Joyner, he delivered my baby. Also Dr. Brown is very good too, if you don't mind waiting. Her appointments always seem to run 30-60 minutes late, she will answer as many questions that you ask. 

ECWC is awesome! I think I saw a majority of the doctors there and I liked them all. The nurses are all super nice and Martin delivered me and he's funny :) 

Joyner is so wonderful..... he didn't get to actually deliver my son the nurses did but he did the stitching up ( I ripped upwards instead of down like most) and he did a wonderful job, he is so kind and caring. I wish I would have had him from the get go instead of patterson.

I def say Dr Conrad as well. Its a completely more personal experience since she is a one woman practice.

I started at ECWC and from my first nurse visit there I was not happy. The nurses were so unpleasant, the Dr rushed me in the very first meeting, and the check out staff didnt even acknowledge me. They just took my paper and handed me my next appt card. I felt like it was a cattle mill. Move as many people in as fast as you can. But I guess that happens in large practices.

But you have good and bad experiences anywhere you go. 

I think you should have your baby in a manger! 

Personally I would go with ECWC. I loved them there! However unless you are going to be a c-section I wouldnt only see one doctor. The doctor who delivers you depends on whoever is on call that day so its best to try to meet all of them before D-day. I liked all the doctors there. Dr. Brown was my favorite and we were lucky to have her on call when I delivered. 

I went to ECWC when I was pregnant with my twins and loved it there. I was very high risk so I had Dr. Martin and Dr. Tinga. They were really awesome and took my concerns seriously. I also liked the fact that they weren't constantly telling me to lose weight,(I am overweight to begin with) in fact they were on me because I was losing weight and put me on a diet to gain weight. The only doc that I hated was Dr. Patterson. He was a complete Jerk. I went to ECWC till I was 26 weeks along and then was put in the hospital at Pitt due to some major complications. I loved the doctors I had at Pitt too.
