Thank you US Gubmint for screwing around.

Because of your ineptitude, many first time and current college students are going to miss scholarship application deadlines because the most current tax return information will not be available.

Oldest will be filling out applications with 2011 return information and will be hoping for the best.

Yeah, and the tax return questions should be hitting the forums any day now when people can't file their returns until the IRS gets all the changes made!

Boobsy McNicehiney --- 12 years ago -

I made a thread on LU about it already in hopes it would be contained to one thread.... I doubt it will happen.

It's always the same questions haha

Ja Ja Jacky (Mod) --- 12 years ago -

Eh. For the last few years at least, you couldn't file until mid January.... We're not there yet. Calm down :)

you can still use your family's last pay stub for the right info on taxes paid, and then the information would be correct for his financial aid.

A BIG scholarship app has a deadline of January 10th.

No, I can't, because they don't want gross income for the scholarship applications.

Well that's stupid. NO one can have those numbers by then. Because. Income taxes can't be filed until the week of MLK, as usual. It's always within 7 days of MLK. Blame the stupid people who decided that Jan 10th was giving people a reasonable amount of time to include their 2012 income.

Actually. Considering employers don't have to mail them out until Jan 31...

I have all my tax info available. I could do the return (even if I can't file it yet, I can normally prepare it by now),but, because of our government's jackassery, the IRS hasn't released the necessary forms yet.

I have everything plugged into my tax software already.

So, since the scholarship app says "the most recentlycompleted tax return, they're getting 2011 information!

Regardless of what YOU have, most employers don't issue them as quickly. So most people will not be applying for that scholarship with 2012 income. So there's nothing to be upset about. Let it gooooooo.

I'm hungry.

But... I want my moneyyyyyyy. ;)

I hope you get it straightened out, good luck.

RMof2 (Mod) --- 12 years ago -

Where it says most recently completed tax return then I would think they intended for you to use 2011 since typically tax returns are NOT completed by the 10th of January.. so I don't think you will have issue with using 2011. Hope it all works out for ya.
