it's closed?!?

Boobsy McNicehiney --- 11 years ago -

Yes. For awhile now. Remodeling or something.

Little Miss Knowitall --- 11 years ago -

May not re-open...

Havelock News Article from August 14th.

dmc21 --- 11 years ago -

that's what I was told, it wouldn't be reopening.

Also there's a chance the Marina will close, too.

They tried to talk closure of the golf course, but the CO put a stop to that (lol).

It's sad that recreation seems to be at the top of the list. Unless they are losing money, of course.

Havelock doesn't have a bowling center, does it? I know they used to, many years ago, somewhere up there. Maybe MHC, but I'm not sure.

My parents would bowl up there somewhere, other than just CP.

Little Miss Knowitall --- 11 years ago -

There was a bowling alley in MHC, where they built Ross, Michaels, etc.

There's still a bowling alley in New Bern, on HWY 17 going towards J'ville.

There used to be another bowling alley in New Bern by the hospital. There was a fire and it never re-opened. Eventually the one on HWY 17 opened.

shew that's a drive for them old folks (retirees lol) to go all the way to New Bern or Cape Carteret from Havelock. lol

Sad that things like that are being taken away. I know over the years, my husband has been in different commands that had bowling parties. Great for morale.

Champ --- 11 years ago -

What's the road that runs from MHC/ Newport areaish to me lejeune? There is a bowling on that road. I think its called Mac daddys (not sure if its farther than new berns)

And jenkies that's a bummer. Now I don't want to come back to cherry point.

dmc21 --- 11 years ago -

yes, Mac Daddy's. It's in Cape Carteret on Highway 24. I didn't name it, but that's what I was talking about when I said driving to Cape Carteret from Havelock. :)

Jungle Julia --- 11 years ago -

Sad. This whole area is lame and seems to be going even further down-hill. As if it wasn't boring enough.

Little Miss Knowitall --- 11 years ago -

The area is what you make of it. We've lived here since 1995 and don't find it boring at all.

We didn't come from some Podunk town either.

I miss Havelock!! I live a couple of miles outside of Detroit and would take Havelock in a heartbeat! There is just too much going on around here! We have 2 Walmarts, 2 Targets, 2 Costcos, a million CVS's, Walgreens, and Rite Aids (which is kind of nice when catching deals but it is still a lot for one city), 7 elevens everywhere.. party stores galore, 3 Dollar trees, and so much more. That isn't counting everything that is in the surrounding cities that are still less than a 15 minute drive. I miss living in an area with less. You focus more on building relationships than dealing with the chaos.
