LoL!

I am from southeast Michigan and have a large family and none of us carry. My Aunt lives in the ghetto of Detroit and doesn't even own a gun. We all carry pepper spray

We haven't been here very long, but my husband and I both carry concealed weapons. I keep mine on my hip at all times, loaded, but on safety. I have walked through walmart like this, and had a Police officer carry on a conversation about my weapon but never told me I couldn't carry it. He asked if I had a permit to carry and that was that, then he gave me tips on which guns are better for what.

Boom,

I think here's the answer to your question:

NC could approve concealed guns in parks, eateries

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- Legislators eager to ease North Carolina's gun laws moved Tuesday to allow people with concealed handgun permits into more restaurants and into public parks, but not necessarily when children are involved in sporting events.

The state House tentatively approved allowing people with a concealed handgun permit to carry the weapon into a restaurant that serves alcohol, which is now illegal. The law also would prevent local governments from passing ordinances banning guns in parks they operate.

Apparently, it's currently a North Carolina statute that prohibits guns at public parks.

Maybe you should get a job there Deb. You seem to know more than they do.

I saw the article, I don't know more than they do - I just remember the conversation and thought I would add to it, for anyone who was actually interested, as I was.

I wasn't interested enough to go looking for it though.

Havelock, NC. There appear to be conflicting reports circulating about the Firearms Ordinance Amendment adopted by the City of Havelock on Monday evening, December 12, 2011. The following excerpt from the November 28, 2011 “draft” meeting record is provided for clarification:

As permitted under House Bill 690, the proposed ordinance would prohibit the carry of concealed handguns within certain recreation areas. House Bill 650 allows for carry of concealed handguns in public buildings and parks by concealed carry permit holders as of December 1, 2011. Also, House Bill 650 permits passage of a local government ordinance prohibiting the carrying of concealed handguns within “specific” recreational areas; playgrounds, ball fields, ball field facilities, and swimming pools. The proposed ordinance maintains the current City status without any further restrictions or liberties. Permitted handguns can be brought into the park but must remain locked up in vehicles.

City Attorney Troy Smith explained that the proposed ordinance was drafted to include all allowable restrictions provided to the City through State law, and the Board can keep/remove provisions as desired. Subsection 130.04(B), exclusive of Subsections (A) and (C), will maintain the status quo. Subsection 120.04(A) will make it unlawful to possess a firearm, concealed or otherwise, within a public-owned building or on the grounds or parking areas of such building, or in public parks or recreation areas; making the ordinance more restrictive.

"Section 130.4.Firearms, Possession.

(A) Notwithstanding the provisions of N.C.G.S. § 14-415.11, and in accordance with N.C.G.S. § 14-415.23, it shall be unlawful to possess or carry a concealed handgun in or on a local government building or the appurtenant premises of such building, or on a City playground, athletic field or athletic facility, provided that this prohibition shall be noticed by prominent posting of each such building and appurtenant premises, playground, athletic field and athletic facility by the City pursuant to Subsection

(B) of this Section 130.04. Nothing contained in this Subsection (A) shall make unlawful or prohibit a person from storing a firearm or handgun within a locked motor vehicle while the motor vehicle is on property otherwise subject to this Section.(B) Pursuant to the authority provided in N.C.G.S. § 14-415.23, the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized and directed pursuant to this Section to post prominent conspicuous signage on and upon each of the local government buildings and their appurtenant premises, and the playgrounds, athletic fields and athletic facilities hereinafter set forth:

• Athletic fields 1-8, Football field, Playground, Recreation Center, Three Tennis Courts, Concession areas and designated athletic field practice areas located at the Recreation Complex at 1 Recreation Drive.

• Playground and adjoining shelter and restroom area, Basketball Court, Sand Volleyball Court, and Lacrosse fields located at the Walter B. Jones Recreation Area at 2 Governmental Avenue, and the football practice fields located across Atlantic Blvd. from the Walter B. Jones Recreation Area.

• Playground located at 198 Cunningham Blvd.

• Cheerleading and T-Ball practice fields in the open triangle area located at 198 Cunningham Blvd.

• Four T-ball fields, Playground and Concession area located at 101 Webb Blvd.

• Playground, Basketball Court and Lacrosse and Soccer Practice area located at 280 McCotter Blvd.

• Playground, Basketball Court and T-Ball practice area located at 230 McCotter Blvd.

• Playground located at 305 MacDonald Blvd.

Ultimately, while attention is currently on passage of this Ordinance in the City of Havelock, those local government that have not taken public action to further restrict concealed weapons at recreational facilities according to House Bill 650, are required to allow that access effective December 1, 2011.

For any additional questions about the Ordinance passed in Havelock, please call 444-7260.
