Looking to entertain 5 kids for less than $70 today - anything to do in New Bern?

Not looking to take them to lunch, ice cream, movies or the beach. They want to actually do something. We've already gone to the beach and are going again tomorrow.

Accidental artist

And feed the ducks at union point and theres a playground at union point as well!

Accidental Artist is AMAZING - but it may run you over $70 with 5 kids. Depends on the pieces you pick out to paint.

You could always take your digital camera and go on a scavenger hunt for the New Bern bears that are all over town. Take pictures of the kids with the bears, that would be pretty neat. They're all painted different colors (I think they had a competition for NB's birthday awhile back).

There's a really cute toy shop downtown, I want to say it's on Craven Street but not sure.
Take them into Bear City Fudge for samples (and then buy a pound for yourself, lol).

I miss living in NB!

Union point is right next to the convention center, it's on the waterfront and always has TONS of ducks, take a loaf of bread and let the kids throw bread to them

Yes. Mouth is watering right now thinking about it.

There is the City pool. It has a waterslide and all sorts of kid friendly spray things. It costs like 3-4$ per person. And they sell snow cones there and some snacks. It has full lockers and all I take my kids all the time. It is wonderful!

Do you sew Jacky? There is an awesome fabric store in NB. Have the kids pick out some fabric to do projects with.

Your best bet would be the Aquatic Center, and then Dairy Queen for ice cream. Cow Cafe if you want to spend a little more money. I take my 3 kids to the Cow Cafe and although it's not too bad, they charge way too much for a tiny little kids' cup of ice cream. At least there is a play area in the back though...my kids love that. Oh, also, Kidsville Park is right beside the Aquatic Center, but it's the only decent park in the city so it gets pretty crowded in the evenings.

New Bern is not very geared toward kids and young people. It's the perfect little quiet, low-key town for old people though. I was born and raised here....moved away in my early 20's for 7 years and recently returned. It's the same 'ole boring little town =( I really wish there was more to do. Wish they would build a new skating rink......a nicer theater (even Havelock has a nicer theater than New Bern), another public pool, another park, etc.

Nope, I don't know how. :(

Oh across from the accidental artist they have a new jewelry making bead studio (it would be fun for the girls). I'm going to go there not this weekend, but the weekend after to make some stuff. The owner was nice and she has a cutie patootie chihuahua.
