Any of you guys who rent give me a rough estimate of total utilities per month?

Our BAH is $1380, trying to find out about what price range we are going to want to look at for rental homes.

Seems like there are plenty for around $1100/mo but we aren't going to want to pay out of pocket for utilities,so i'm trying to find a price range to stay in so BAH will cover all rent and utilities.

Appreciate any help.

It depends on where you live and how much space you have to heat and cool. Average nicer home in Havelock is about $950 a month and utilites would be about $250-$300 a month for most people.

We live off base and in New Bern. Our water, trash, and sewer are combined in our electric bill and our electric bill runs about $200 a month for a home that is about 1400 square feet. In the summer our bill is usually around 250. If we try really hard to remember to turns lights and tv's off, our bill runs about $175.

We use gas for our stove and to heat our water.....that bill is usually about $30. In the winter it's usually about $40 - $50 a month.

We thought we'd love living in New Bern, but my husband spends so much money in gas to get back and forth to work that it does not pay to live here (even though our rent is cheap). It's actually pretty ridiculous, which is why we are moving closer to base very soon.

It depends on where you live...We lived in a really nice subdivision and paid 1200 for rent and had progress energy (which is way cheaper than going through the city) and paid about 150-180/ month for electric, water and sewer was about 50-60 I believe. This was 3 years ago tho. To us it wasn't worth it since I am very particular about houses that we rent and want them to look a certain way as opposed to taking whatever is in our price range. But that is just me.

It depends on how many people are in your home, etc.

We have three people and our water is usually between $50-$65.

Our electric bill is usually around $120 but we ALSO have propane heat so we pay $124 a month for that.

Our mortgae is $787, this is for 4bd 2 bath almost 2000 sq ft older home.

I would suggest not moving to a place where you have to pay New Bern electric!

FYI some houses that are "in Havelock" are serviced by New Bern electric, so make sure you ask before you agree to anything.

Appreciate all the input thanks.

It's just my husband and I but we live in Newport. Our rent is $1000, electric usually no more than $120, and water/sewer/trash about $40. So our BAH usually covers everything.

We live in MacDonald Downs so our house is a little over 2,000 sq. ft. We are not good with conserving utilities, so our WSG bill is usually around $115 / month and our Power bill is down to $150 now, but has been as high as $300 during the summer with the A/C and pool pump. You want to avoid City of New Bern power if possible.
