If I am not mistaken, she can claim that lottery winnings are not income and she still qualifies for food stamps... (or a bridge card)... She can still claim unemployment too since she is not working..... 

Honestly, I think that a military members BAH and BAS should be considered for ALL social programs because it IS income. It's untaxable but it's still income. If the social programs were revamped and regulated, they would be a hand up and NOT a hand out 

And the reason I brought that up is because it's not THAT different- sure ,she has a lot more money but the rules that allow her to get the food stamps while having that money are the same ones that allow the military member not to claim their BAH and BAS 

which i think is crap since we would otherwise qualify for reduced lunch if we didnt have to claim our BAH however those of the same rank and pay grade that live in base do not have to count their BAH and qualify for reduced lunch. their BAH goes to the same crap mine goes for Rent,elect water and trash..but because the dont have set amounts for each they dont have to claim it..

i also dont think a Sgt in base housing should forfeit all of his BAH when a PFC pays less for the same house there should be a set rate for everyone not per rank.

I do agree with that! BAH should be set on base by the HOUSE, not the rank. It's SUPER annoying. 

BAH should be set by geographical area not rank....

If you live in xyz you get abc no matter the rank....

Your PAY should increase with rank, not your housing allowance....
