George Jones has passed away....

I just got dh to start playing this on his guitar on Sunday. :-( 

That is awesome fulu. It's music I grew up with. I would post the youtube video but I can't do video on my work computer. 

I know so sad :( 

I loooooove me some George Jones, Vicky! 

Here Vicky, funny George thought this song was too sad and would never sell-it was his biggest hit, voted #2 all-time country behind Stand by Your Man. He came to Atlantic Beach and got too drunk and stoned to perform, he was called "no show Jones" around that time period. RIP Possum, loved your music.

 

He Stopped Loving Her Today
The Bobby Braddock / Curly Putman composition actually lost Jones money. After recording the song, he reportedly bet producer Billy Sherrill $100 that in his words, "Nobody would buy that morbid SOB." Jones lost the bet, but gained a lot more – winning the CMA Single of the Year trophy for his performance – which hit number one on July 5, 1980.

By age 19, Jones – newly married – enlisted with the United States Marine Corps. Stationed in California for his entire length of service, it was after his discharge that his music career really began to blossom, with his signing to Starday Records in 1953.
