My Grandpa took a really bad turn last night (he has been in the hospital for a week and a half but we thought he was going to be coming out.. I saw him Friday and took my daughter with us. He didn't know who I was but looked at my daughter with recognition.. which we think that's because she looks like me as a little girl). Anyways. He has not woken up since about 5pm last night and just went on hospice care today and they are predicting he has about 24 hours left, give or take. I have been up there off and on since around 11am and discovered that I have a hole in my tire and had to stop 4 times on the way home to put more air in the tire (I only live about 9 miles from the hospital).

So pretty stressed and have tons of stuff to still do today.

Oh red, I'm so sorry. I'm here if you need to talk.

Just got the call a little bit ago and had to make some calls to others to notify them. My Grandpa took his last breath and he is now no longer in any pain. My heart breaks for my Dad, Aunts and Uncles, but especially my Grandma. She did not want to outlive her husband and many times believed she was going to be the first to go.

I am so sorry. :(

Thank you Boobsy.. I am glad he is no longer in any pain. He was in visible pain this morning before they upped his morphine.. so we knew this was coming but it's still heart breaking. I can't imagine losing my Dad.. so when I look at my Aunts and Uncles my heart breaks more for them then me but I was a Grandpa's girl too.. I spent many nights at my grandparents house growing up because of some family struggles with my brother and their home was my safe place.

Didn't get to go back up to the hospital like I wanted to because my tire was too flat to even pull out of my driveway to get to the auto part store for a plug or even a gas station to put air in it.. :-(.. Spent over an hour to find the spare tire, and figure out how to get the spare tire out of it's hiding place to realize that stupid me has a really crappy jack that I am not strong enough to use it and that I don't have a crowbar. These are things I should definitely fix sooner rather than later and I think I will be asking for tools for my birthday.. *sigh*

:( I'm so sorry. We went home for Christmas a couple of years back, and my grandpa wasent doing so great, but was in long-term care. When we were about an hour outside the city on our way home, I got the call that he wouldn't make it through the night. We live 12ish hours away, and my hisband had to check in the next day so we couldnt turn back. He died before we made it home. At least he's not in pain anymore.

Struggling today. Been keeping busy and doing the stuff that I had scheduled before my Grandpa passed (like going to head start and getting my daughter enrolled for fall. She is assigned a class already and isn't on the waiting list so glad that I didn't put it off).. but even though I am staying busy, drinking water and still eating.. I feel weak! Very weak. I am shaking, my left side keeps going numb and have tightness in my chest.. Stupid anxiety.

Funeral services are Friday and Saturday and my Grandma is not doing well. My dad has been with her all day. I worry about the stress on my dad.

I'm sorry for your loss :(

On a side note... Is your head start struggling with the sequester? We lost $300k in funding for our agency. 15 sites in 8 counties are being affected.

RMof2 (Mod) --- 12 years ago -

I didn't hear that they were being affected. My daughter will be going her first year to head start in the Fall and they didn't say anything about it. They do have a very strict attendance policy. Not sure if it was always so strict but they have to maintain 85% attendance for the entire school to keep funding so if one child is absent 15 days they are kicked out of the program.

RMof2 (Mod) --- 12 years ago -

She made it sound like it hasn't always been that strict.

EL EM --- 12 years ago -

Ours is 85% per month and excused absences don't count, within reason. Hell, my son's been sent home more times than that for illnesses.

RMof2 (Mod) --- 12 years ago -

Oh.. she didn't specify if excused counted or not.. but it isn't 85% per month.. it was 85% overall.. When I go and turn in her physical papers tomorrow I will make sure she goes over the attendance with me again and make sure I ask if she meant per month or if she meant the entire year and if they count the doctor excused absences.
