Posting this on pendleton too, but I've called the VA, and I'm not really getting a direct answer or even a round about answer. To me it seems straight forward of a question.

My hubs is getting out of the military. He told me awhile back his MSGT walked him through the process of transferring some of his GIbill and did it- for both the kids and I.

I know the rule is "6 years, and must serve an additional 4 years from the date of transfer." My husband is coming to the end of his contract, and plans to transition into the reserves or national guard. Do those count as years? or is it strictly 4 years active?

I'd love to hear from those who have actually had benefits transferred and used them. or if you're Dr. Google, please link. I can find all sorts of links info on transfer, but not necessarily how the 4 years have to be served.

My husband did the paperwork online, then only dealt with the school VA counselor. He was very knowledgeable on the whole process. He'd been in 20+ years when he transferred, though, so there was no eligibility questions.

Thank you soooo much!!!

I guess I should have gotten a little farther down one of the pages for the full scoop. I do still wonder why three VA reps didn't know the answer.
