So my hubby just got our daughter's newborn footprint and named tattooed on his rib cage for 180 bucks (all black with no real shading or anything special). This seems pretty high to me, but is it normal around here? I'm use to California where tats are pretty cheap in comparison. I want to get something similar on my foot, but I'd love recommendations on places and artist who are a little more reasonably priced. Should I try New Bern or MC instead? Yes, I've heard of the saying "good tattoos aren't cheap, and cheap tattoos aren't good." but I'm sure we could do better. 

I'd never get a tat around here. Go to Wilmington or Raleigh durham area instead.

I don't think that you should be bargain hunting when it comes to a piece of art that becomes a part of you FOREVER.

No seriously. Imu hubbs and I both have gotten tattoos in havelock. Never again. There are way too many talented tattoo artists that have been doing that job for 6-30 years in the area I recommended.

I don't think 180 is expensive for a tattoo. Most places depending on size and font charge 8-15 per letter on a name. Plus the foot print in general if it looks like (exactly) even better has a ton of detail unless he sucks why else would you get a foot print to leave and it not to be nearly exactly the same otherwise wouldn't matter whose foot print you got.

On a serious note, tattoo places ARE more expensive around military facilities than in non-military affiliated towns.
Too bad 90% of NC is military affiliated. You'll never get away from steep prices on certain things.
