Okay, Ladies (& Gent), my new job entails lots of walking and standing on my feet for 8 hours a day.

The past 3 days, I've worn my Avia cross trainers. I've hardly worn them, so they have a lot of life left to them, but when I get home from work, my feet are KILLING ME!

I was thinking about getting a pair of Dansk clogs (lots of Nurses wear them)...

Anyone have a recommendation for a good shoe to help a sista out?

The clogs are not a bad idea at all. I got a pair of Nike running shoes, they are so comfortable. They don't even bother me walking 10 miles.

Sketchers D'lites are the sh!Ts they weight like next to nothing are are super comfortable..got mine at the Exchange.

Skechers are out - they don't have enough of a tread on the bottom.

I need something that is going to give me a really good grip.

I'll have to see if I can find the Nike's locally. I really don't like buying shoes online, unless I've seen them in person first.

Gotcha. It really is best to try them first. It would be awesome if you could try them in the store and order them real cheap online, but that'd probably take awhile.

FILA believe it or not are the most comfortable shoes out there. They have great padding and arch support.

My husband would chew me out on that advice bc he believes in NIKE. Filas are better and slightly cheaper.

That's what I normally do, unless I get a killer deal in a store. I usually buy sneakers at Kohl's when they're on sale/clearance.

I personally hated my dansk clogs (they were mandatory) but they hurt my feet, they are heavy, and they make you stand a certain way to do positive things for your posture, and apparrently that didn't work well for me. My back killed.me after surgery... All of which I never had problems with prior at other practices where I could just wear sneakers. I loved a pair of new balances I had.

Saying that others I worked with loved them, a couple others had similar complaints, but most got used to them. Mine also scuffed easily, and couldn't be polished (but they were a specific white pair, I know they had other styles, material.

Id say your best bet is to go to athletes foot (they have one in morehead and one in new Bern) they will watch u walk and see where the pressure points are on your feet and all that good stuff! and they tell you what kind of shoes you need based on your foot and what you'll be using them for! And they will give u recommendations
Best of luck

I have a pair of Dansko clogs and they are awesome. I have a bad back and they really help me out. For tennis shoes I have a pair of Nikes.0

I have always been a huge Nike person - but after 15 hours of walking a day on vacation and standing for 8 hours a day... I'll never buy them again. I just bought a back up pair of these after the price dropped

They are super comfy and my feet can breathe in them. They're so comfy, that I haven't worn my Mary Janes in months... and you know that says a lot. LOL!

These are the ones i have and let me tell you the grip i have on the floor is crazy even when the floor is wet i stick to it like cleats in the grass ( i work in a grooming salon so water is always on the floor) the tread on the bottom of them seems to act just like little hooks gripping every thing i step on lol

GroomingMyWay --- 10 years ago -

my bad i have the Extremes of the one above hehe sorry

Little Miss Knowitall --- 10 years ago -

i have the Extremes

That's the style I looked at - they don't look like they would have the skid resistance I need.

Guess I'll just have to look at them in the store first.

I was trying to narrow down what to look at.
