What are some good indoor activites for 18 month olds?

We currently:
music class once a week
kid fit toddler gym once a week
play date at least once a week
library story time
swimming

play doh
finger paint
puzzles
coloring

I'm running out of ideas!

Sounds like you are doing good. Books are huge at our house regardless of age, so perhaps incorporate that if you want to. However, it looks like you are doing an awesome job already with activities for your little one.

blocks/ large size legos (megablocks)

Crayola color wonder markers & pages.

Sounds like you have it covered. They don't have to be forced into activites 24/7. Just let them play.

We do have mega blocks, not her go to toy though.

I read about 30+ books with her everyday, not including naptime and bedtime. That's my go to activity when I want to sit down and be lazy. Maybe that's why I didn't list it. Lol

I guess we do a lot but it feels like I have a lot of down time when I don't want her to watch tv or something. I miss summer when that down time is spent outside.

I have to be creative. pipe cleaners are awesome. Practice stringing cheerios then shape into a heart and bam, instant valentines bird feeder. Or practice putting pipe cleaners in colander holes.

I like those little homemade activities.

P.s thanks for the suggestions and reassurment.

I'm going to look into the color wonder item for a possible valentines or Easter gift.

It's okay to have downtime.

Where is the place you do the kids gym?! I've been looking for something like that for my 16 month old.

WooTang (Mod) --- 12 years ago -

New Bern Gymnastics and Crystal Coast Allstars in Morehead both offer open gym time for kids 1 +. I haven't been to the CCA one but have been to the New Bern one and my daughter had a blast.

Do cooking time. Show how to make sandwiches, peel apart oranges, make lemonade, toast, pudding.

Champ --- 12 years ago -

Seen many pictures of MrsSmittys doll cooking. I think she cooks every night with her. :)

I think you do a fabulous amount with her.

Well that's cool. I don't like anyone in my kitchen unless they are cleaning my dishes. And even so they don't do as good a job as I do.

Pinterest has a lot of great ideas for crafts.

She does cook every night with me. :) she's a big helper. Hehe

Nodoubts- we are stationed in Maryland so I can't help ya. Tho the music class and kid fit are at the same gymnastics center. Look into one close to you. They might have seasonal classes like ours.

Thanks champ!

Loooove pinterest. Today I made her a rice/pasta shaker. Clear container with different shapes and colors of pasta and rice. She helped fill it up. You turn it to "find the star" or "find the spaghetti". Etc.

Don't feel like you have to always keep her entertained. Let her play alone with her toys. it helps build her independence as well as her imagination. I constantly played with my oldest and as he got older would still expect me to play with him. He's still not great at playing by himself. My youngest is great at playing by herself. I just had to let her play when I did housework while my oldest was at preschool. I think you're keeping her plenty busy! You also don't want to overwhelm her with too many activities.

Thanks Woo!
