Any one ever take it? Experiences?

Boobsy McNicehiney --- 12 years ago -

Yep. Only as needed. Good for panic attacks. Made me sleepy and have no appetite.

Mrs Zim --- 12 years ago -

I got prescribed it to take with my other anxiety meds but as needed as well. Took the first one last night. For like 10 min I just felt like a zombie then all of a sudden I felt like I was drunk as heck! Don't really remember much or how long that lasted, then I passed out.

Tarheelover --- 12 years ago -

I take 1mg every night it helps me sleep and with panic attacks which I have often.

BOOM BOOM BOOM --- 12 years ago -

If only weed were legal. Panic attacks no more...

Amazing how many of ya'll are having panic/anxiety attacks.

Do you think maybe, just maybe , they're over diagnosing these conditions?

Or, did I miss the memo where this is a meeting group for peeps with anxiety/panic disorders...

I'm sure it seems as if I'm being a Richard, but wow, 3 of ya'll on a forum with about 6 regular users.
What are the odds?

Mrs Zim --- 12 years ago -

Well I don't know about the others but I've been taking anxiety meds since I was 15 sooo nothing new for me!

Fiction, lots of people have anxiety. It effects people a lot more than you think, especially women. Women who pretty much do well more than a man. Usually those tasks are smaller and become overwhelming. Romance has hit a bottom low and there is less chance for relaxation. (That's why I get paid, and anxiety is the number one reason people come to see me)
It may effect one person and they not know it, or another person and it controls their lives...especially those who get attacks. Anxiety comes in many forms. To snapping at people, getting upset about work or the way things go at home. Some people can take a hot bath and feel better, some smoke weed, some take pills, some go on vacation, others go for a spa day, or chill with a bottle of wine with friends. It's more prevelant than you might think.

It's quite common. The reasons differ, the diganosis is the same.

It's possible... I have also been diagnosed with anxiety disorder, though I take nothing for it. My oldest child was diagnosed with general anxiety disorder a couple of years ago as well. He also takes nothing for it. He's 12 and up until recently had slept no more than 3 to 4 hours a night because of his anxiety. He now sleeps 5 to 6 hours a night.

I often think group counseling would be an effective form of treatment for learning how to cope with anxiety but have found nothing of the sort. So, we'll just keep trucking along, trying to learn how to cope with it on our own.

While I think it is possible for it to be over diagnosed, I believe ours to be correct. My son is going to be 13 in a month. In 13 years, my husband and I went out alone once. And that was to get married. Up until last summer, I can count on one hand how many times my children had been left with someone else... and I've had major surgery resulting in a week long stay at the hospital.

Last summer, I did leave them in my home with my 16 yr old sister 5 times while I was at work... that was hell for me. I called every hour and ended up leaving in tears. We decided that it was best for me to bring them to work with me, which is what I usually do now.

Anyway, point of my story is... that is some serious anxiety, no? LOL.

My panic attacks make me feel like I'm drowning,my heart stops beating for several seconds, then I feel exhausted, dizzy and like I've been hypervenilating.

Boobsy McNicehiney --- 12 years ago -

They suck. Plain and simple. If yoga helps, cool. Pills? Right on. Do what you have to do. It's far more ridiculous to ignore a problem than seek treatment for it.

You meant to say that your heart feels like it stops beating...

yes sorry.

Klonopin is great for panic attacks. It's similar to Xanax but a longer 1/2 life which is great because it lessens the chances for addiction since both are faster acting and can be taken at the onset of an attack.
