Was going to try this new place to eat tonight, we got there right at 6 p.m. and there was a "we ran out of food" sign on the door... Has anyone ate there? Is it good?

Little Miss Knowitall --- 12 years ago -

*face palm*

They just opened in the past few days.

This is NOT a good sign.

Champ --- 12 years ago -

There's a BBQ place out here with a sign out front with a list of things they have ran out of for the day. Ribs are usually 86ed by 1pm. Its crazy, but they are the best ribs I've ever had. I dreamed about them for a week after eati g there...not really, but that good.

We're talking about Havelock, on an off week for pay.

No reason for running out of food...

hookerfamily --- 12 years ago -

We didn't think it was a very good sign either. 5 other cars pulled in the lot while we read the sign and left, that was a lot of new business they missed out on...

I have heard a lot of people say they tried to eat there and they were out of food. :/

Champ --- 12 years ago -

:/ I like giving people the benefit of the doubt if they just opened and most of their food is smoked or slow cook times, maybe they are still trying to get to the right amount? That's really a bummer, sounds like they won't be opened when we get back there (assuming we do)

Good barbeque is cooked in several batches. Once its run out its out. They have probably underestimated how much to cook. It takes several hours to cook it. Do you want to eat half aZz bbq? Im sure they didnt run out but didnt cook enough. We have a lot of bbq places here. One that Obama frequents often. They have a sign that says once were out were out! They are open from 11-4. Or earlier if its eaten all up. Thats a good sign

Little Miss Knowitall --- 12 years ago -

They open at 10am.

In addition to bbq, they have chicken, brisket & hot dogs.

If they're running out of bbq at noon, they could start another batch and have it ready for the dinner crowd.

Instead, they're turning away business.

Once pizza hut ran out of peperroni. Im like, seriously? Its like having the apple pie store run out of apples!

Champ --- 12 years ago -

I think that about the rib place here, haha, but I worked at a pancake place (I know not the same thing at all, and we never ran out of pancakes, but it was a several day process "do this...let ferment for 5 days, then add this, "ready in 24 hours"

I think good bbq would entail a lot more. Good brisket is a several hour affair, too and if they brine it, that's usually 4+ day process. There's a bit more to everything than just cooking it, add in size of smokers/ etc but all I'm doing is making speculations and playing devil's advocate...now I want bbq.

Champ --- 12 years ago -

Now someone needs to eat there, and let us know if it's THAT GOOD.

Their hours call it.

Champ --- 12 years ago -

and FB comment from them,

"Awww, call ahead maybe? Or come early, who knew it would go so quick? We are running at full capacity, and down a smoker, but working hard to keep up with the demands!! Don't give up!!"

Fiction --- 12 years ago -

I like the style, and it will build demand.

The novelty of it will grow, and it will become the place everyone will talk about.

Just watch.

as long as the food and service is on point, but assuming as fast as it sells out probably is.

If in the little town of Havelock, where 50% of business are car dealerships and the rest are split between churches, restaurants, and tattoo shops, if you're selling out of food, you're doing something right even if you only have a dozen hotdogs to peddle.
