Just would like to thank the person/entity (who will remain nameless) who bought the changing table that was at a reasonable price last night and is now re-listed & jacked up by over $50. My email didn't go through last night before I went to bed so the person arranged pick up with the seller, no big deal, it happens. But c'mon - you're really going to re-list the same item that day? I guess I see the site as a way for us to help each other - not as an alternate way to run a business. :/

BOOM BOOM BOOM --- 12 years ago -

There is so much CRAP on that site now! It used to be nice. Business accounts are f in up the clutter! Especially those who are selling NEW stuff! It's a yard sale...not a store.

Dontchawish --- 12 years ago -

I've had people do that to me before. I sold some baby items I thought at a reasonable price. Just to find them back up the next day for twice what I sold them for. People suck. I sell my items at yard sale prices.

BOOM BOOM BOOM --- 12 years ago -

Times are rough I guess. Bored house wives.

BOOM BOOM BOOM --- 12 years ago -

I guess avon and scentsy and chef businesses aren't working out.

Ja Ja Jacky (Mod) --- 12 years ago -

I don't understand the logic here.

You sold it for what you wanted to get out of it - now you're mad because someone else is making a dime off of it?

If people shouldn't be allowed to make more off of it than you did, then you should never be able to resell anything you got from a baby shower or that someone handed down to you or that you bought used.

Walmart buys kids sneakers at $2.30 a pair. They sell them to you for $12.

It costs Dairy Queen 79 cents to make a small blizzard. They charge $3.50 for the blizzard.

Gold Canyon Candles cost probably less than $5 to manufacture. They sell them to your favorite rep for $14 and your favorite rep charges you $18.

Do I even need to continue? The used car dealer - probably paid between $4,000 and $8,000 less for your used car than you just bought it for.

It's a yard sale site. That means that people can hawk their wares for a price that they deem fair. You can accept it or move along to someone who has a price you're more inclined to agree with.

Ja Ja Jacky (Mod) --- 12 years ago -

Libby,

If you are talking about the the one I think you are talking about, they couldn't have jacked that up $50. Unless you let them haggle you down on the price. In that case, I just don't see why you are upset. They put it in their actual retail store and then listed it here also. It's not like you didn't get paid for it.

Now. If you got some sob story about how they were poor and desperate then I could see being upset. But otherwise - eh. Move on.

Libby A --- 12 years ago -

Oh no, I didn't sell the item I was supposed to buy the item. I get it, its a yard sale site and fair game. I don't have patience to sell stuff on there lol. I was just venting, that's all :)

RMof2 (Mod) --- 12 years ago -

That is what I thought you were saying Libby when I read your post the second time. It absolutely sucks when you want to buy something and someone beats you to the buy. It sucks even more when they aren't even buying the item because they need it, but because they see a way to make a quick buck.

Hopefully you find another affordable one soon.

Ja Ja Jacky (Mod) --- 12 years ago -

Ooooh. I see. You are annoyed because you wanted it and they got it. That's what happens when I post 5 minutes after climbing out of bed.

Little Miss Knowitall --- 12 years ago -

I used to do that it all the time on ebay.

If an item was miscategorized or someone didn't know what they had, I would buy it and turn around and resell it the same day I received it.

I was nice though, I would take my own pictures and not grab the original seller's images!

;-)

Vicky (Mod) --- 12 years ago -

I can see how that would upset you. We all love a good deal. Keep an eye on it and maybe they won't be able to sell it for the jacked up price and you can offer the original price and buy it...

I was looking for an item on ebay the other day and found it for a "decent price". Then I remembered ABC Distributing and LTD and googled thier site to see if they offered what I was looking for and there was the item from ebay....

Same picture as ebay.

Ebay price: $42.99 + shipping and handling
ABC price: $29.99 + shipping and handling.

Same seller had multiple items. A bowl set on clearance at ABC is $4.40 for the set. She was selling for $9.90.

This is how some people feed their families and it is something they enjoy. Good on them.

I want to have a yard sale, but I hate having them because I hate the sob stories and the low balling. I sell stuff pretty dirt cheap and am not a good haggler.

I hope there is a "better deal" in your future Libby. And this experience fades away.

BOOM BOOM BOOM --- 12 years ago -

I love it when I put our best offer on it..OBO and they still try and haggle you. Lol nooooo! I don't even respond to those emails.

Little Miss Knowitall --- 12 years ago -

If you put OBO, they WILL haggle...

OBO = OR best offer, not OUR best offer.

BOOM BOOM BOOM --- 12 years ago -

F in really!!!!!!!?????? Jesus! Well crack heads should know that I'd I'm selling a nice arse washer and dryer for $150...common sense would tell me that's an amazing price and to F off with the haggling. Dangit!

Vicky (Mod) --- 12 years ago -

We should get Gloria to post a dictionary of acronyms and meanings of posts.

A LOT is a group of things sold for one price. Not a lot of things sold individually.

EUC Excellent Used Condition.
NWT
NWOT
OBO

etc....

BOOM BOOM BOOM --- 12 years ago -

I don't sell jack on their anymore. Buncha idiots and I can't even read their emails anymore. It's a shame people can't take an extra 15 seconds and say something like, "do you have pictures?" instead of "pics". Like really? Are you telling me or asking me? I'll tell you I you ask me but not if you demand it with one lousy word.

Little Miss Knowitall --- 12 years ago -

If you're not willing to haggle, you should put FIRM.

Little Miss Knowitall --- 12 years ago -

common sense would tell me that's an amazing price and to F off with the haggling

Why? If you put OBO, you're opening yourself up to haggling!

There's no harm in asking someone if they'll take a lower price - most the seller can say is NO.

BOOM BOOM BOOM --- 12 years ago -

Oh oh and those who are selling from somewhere that I have to drive 45 minutes to get to. Stay on your own cities website!

Frazzled Dazzled --- 12 years ago -

I hate it when I get a bunch of emails saying "I'd love to get this" or "I want it!" so I take the time the email them back and then I never hear a response back. Only about half the emails I send out to people ever get a reply. Why email me at all? It's just a waste of time.

Libby A --- 12 years ago -

I had a person one time all lined up to buy an item, time set to come over and everything. I then get an email right before they were supposed to come over asking if I will take $15.00 less than what I'm asking. REALLY??? You couldn't have asked a lower price before confirming pickup?

Even when you don't put OBO up there they still low ball you like crazy. Not that I'm insensitive to people or anything, but c'mon - we are all lower to middle class around here and we all are on a budget. Don't offer me $100 for something I'm asking $140 for and then tell me that you're broke and need the item desperately.

Thanks ladies lol

Frazzled Dazzled --- 12 years ago -

I had a person cancel on me twice because they said they didnt have the money. What they were buying only cost $1.50... People on there are ridiculous.

Dontchawish --- 12 years ago -

I got the sob story and I was being considerate because I know what its like to have a baby and need things for cheap. Turns out person has money lives in a big fancy house and tried to resell my stuff the next day for way more money. That makes me mad. Don't lie to me and then resell my items. If you are just going to resell it then tell me that. I don't care. I just want it out of my house.

BOOM BOOM BOOM --- 12 years ago -

I love how a $40k plus truck rides around the hood or comes to pick stuff up and haggled the cap out of you like thy cant afford it or is digging through your trash. Put the coach bag back and trade you $55k car for something cheaper of you can't afford something. People have their financial priorities allllll screwed up.

Dontchawish --- 12 years ago -

My neighborhood looks like a brand new car lot expect for our driveway. My husband has a 12 yr old car and I drive a Kia! I love hearing my neighbors complain about how they have no money. I have no problems getting the things i NEED and saving the rest. You are right BOOM people do have their financial priorities all jacked up.

Vicky (Mod) --- 12 years ago -

I am doing the Dave Ramsay Financial Peace University and will probably be putting my house on the market in September.

Having a Dave Ramsay yard sale on the 4th and 18th to downsize our belongings a little at a time. Using the money to pay down debt.

Trying to follow the principles. Working on my baby step 1 of a savings account.

Then pay off the debt. Gonna get a smaller cheaper house if I can. The girls will have to share a room. Going to a three bedroom or a two bedroom if i can downsize enough.

Going to try and live without plastic (credit/debit cards). It's very hard.

Stopped going out to eat with the office. Bummed no more Mexican Thursdays but it will be better in the end.

BOOM BOOM BOOM --- 12 years ago -

Good luck Vicky! I did the same thing hen I moved on base over two years ago. I go shoppig now and I rarely walk out with anything unless I NEED it. I surprise myself now. I think I stores like oh that's so pretty and that would be nice in here or there. I had to start asking myself if I can live without it. I've paid down a lot of debt. We just have a car payment and school loans now.

Dontchawish --- 12 years ago -

Good for both of you!! We only use our credit card for gas. The only debt we have is my car payment. I would really like to downsize the amount of stuff we have. I have boxes of clothes that I wore before i had my son. I really should get rid of them... Nice stuff too

Little Miss Knowitall --- 12 years ago -

I wouldn't buy a two bedroom home.

They're harder to sell/rent out...

Good Luck on becoming debt free! It's a GREAT feeling!
