Ok so I know binder oaks has a 1 car garage but my question is, does slocum villiage have 1 or 2 car garages for a 4 bedroom home? TIA

I live in Binder. Our garage is big enough to have a boat, a deep freezer, a refrig and all of my husbands crap in it. (And I can still walk in and out holding an infant carrier without falling over stuff). I know the 2 car garages are probably better, but I really don't have a complaint. 

It says online 2,3, and 4 bedrooms lady in housing put us on a waiting list for that housing for a four bedroom. Binder sounds good but hubby wants a 2 car garage :) I don't care as long as we have somewhere to live. Lol

I have only ever seen the 2 and 3 bedrooms. I've also never seen 2 car garages either. But... they might have them.

Yup.. I had 2 friends who had 4 bedroom homes in Slocum! 

The 4 bedroom homes have the same size garage as the 3 bedroom homes. It's not like the amount of cars should go up based on the number of bedrooms. 

We had a 2 car garage.. At Camp Lejeune. I haven't seen any at Cherry Point.

I never said you got more garage space because of the amount of bedrooms. It was a question of what size of garage Slocum had. I've never been out to Cherry Point so that is why I mentioned it was a 4 bedroom. I didn't know if it mattered. We want to get military housing so no We are not gonna rent off base. But thanks for your input. :) it was just a question of what it had so I can plan ahead. To you that did help thanks :) 

Sorry another question didn't want to start a whole new thread. We will not be getting a house until Sept. What hotel would you recommend for an extended stay approximately 1 month stay?

You should be able to get a home within the first day you get here though. Lots of people left the beginning of summer and the homes are still vacant.

Housing said that they don't have any available until mid sept. We are supposed to get a 4 bedroom. I told here I would like a 3 bedroom so we can move in right away. She told me they didnt have any 3 bedrooms and that they wouldn't give us a 3 because we have 3 kids that we would have to wait for a 4 bedroom. 

Is that AMCC telling you that or housing? There are 4 bedrooms in the old Nugent cove area. They are lying to you. 

They can make you have a 4 bedroom if you want a 3? That sounds strange. I could understand if you had 4 or 5 kids, but not 3. It is actually quite normal for children to share a room. When are you moving here? There a few empty 4 bedrooms on my block.

That doesn't make sense- they refuse to give you a three bedroom when you have three kids? how old are your kids? 

Yes I called this morning and asked if we can just get a 3 bedroom so that way we can move in right away. My daughter has autism and she needs stable structure. So we would take a 3 bedroom she said I'm sorry but we can only give you a 4 bedroom. So I have to pay out of pocket for a hotel to stay in until we can move in. I get this Friday we fly out tomorrow night. 

If your daughter has a certifiable diagnosis, why are you not getting priority housing? Are you enrolled in EFMP? 

If she is enrolled in EFMP and is cat 4 which I'm SURE she would be if she's enrolled, you jump everyone on that list but the top two. 

Word. And just to clarify. The money you pay for a hotel will probably be your BAH money so it's not out of pocket.

You should have priority if a doctor has diagnosed him with that. And something sounds fishy when they won't let you have a three bed but there are four beds available.

There are plenty of homes unoccupied!!!! They are having a real hard problem getting people to move on base. ( probably bc of the Facebook site lol) so there are tons of homes to choose from ready to move in. Binder only has a one car garage. 

The only housing with 2 car garages (that isnt for officers) is Nugent Cove. However, the garages in Slocum aren't terrible. They have a little storage area in the back. 

I know it sounded weird that is exactly what i thought. I am just repeating what I was told from housing. Yes she is enrolled in EFMP but they also said that since she isn't severely autistic she doesn't get priority. Sucks but again that's what I was told. I wish... It would really help out. Oh so true I wasn't thinking of BAH but from the places I looked up it seems like it's going to come out to a lot more than we get for BAH. 

When I was at CP they didn't have the new Nugent Cove up yet.. so I didn't know about them having the 2 car garages. 

Hostess house is under your BAH but that would seriously be cramped. With three kids.

Are you the one talking to housing or hubby? Maybe someone in that office can tell you the truth.
