For Immediate Release: Reported Attempted Juvenile Abduction Proven to be False
On Monday, May 20, 2013 at approximately 6:45 A.M., Havelock police officers responded to the area of Lee Drive/Coyote Trail regarding a reported attempted juvenile abduction. Initial reports from the alleged juvenile victim, a 13 year old female, and one of her friends, a 14 year old female, indicated the victim was approached by a male subject while the victim and her friend waited for the school bus at the intersection of Lee Drive and Coyote Trial. It was reported that at some point the victim ran from the male subject and was able to get away without injury.
Inconsistencies in the account of the incident given by the two juveniles were identified leading police to interview other friends of the alleged victim and an adult witness. After conducting the subsequent interviews it was determined the 13 year old female and her 14 year old female friend had contrived the story of the attempted abduction to cover their plans to skip school today.
Juvenile petitions charging the 13 and 14 year old females with Filing a False Police Report regarding the incident will be filed. Police are working with Juvenile Services regarding the matter.
Hahahahahaaa. I'm glad we have cell phones now. Back in the day when I skipped school I just went home early enough to erase the message from the school about my absence before my mom came home. Har har har!
