This is a little more than just a "Sammich" joke.. here is the article.
There is plenty of serious harassment going on here and you would want someone to take action if it had anything to do with you Boom.

Facebook Harassment

One of the forums

I cant get the forum to open. But i read the article. I dont feel sorry for some or most female Marines. What do you expect from young, ignorant men when you post half naked or more pictures of yourself on FB with fish face kisses...

Whatever. They need to grow balls if you want to work in an occupation like that.

MusicNote (Mod) --- 12 years ago -

WTF, hasn't she ever heard of trimming her friends list and adjusting her privacy settings? I mean, COME ON.

Guess I'm the odd man out, as usual. It is not okay to sexually harass someone. I don't care what YOU think she should and should not post on her Facebook.

This happened to a male friend of ours. He wasn't sexually harassed, but still ripped apart on one of those sites for a picture that one of his "friends" gave to one of those Facebook pages. Was his picture stupid? Yes. But it still was messed up.

So because she was most likely an attractive female Marine that means she deserves to be called names and accused of sleeping with higher ups? I don't think so.

If it was just over a "make me a sammich" joke, it would be ridiculous.

It's not okay to harass people. Some people get pretty big and bad over the internet.

RMof2 (Mod) --- 12 years ago -

That is why I said it was more than a sammich joke.. the sammich joke doesn't bother me but from what she was saying it wasn't just internet harassment after her picture was posted. People were coming up to her and harassing her at work and I don't care what kind of work you do. No one should have to get harassed like that in the work place. There is a line between joking around and harassment. They made her very uncomfortable. It should be even more important in this line of work that you don't make your fellow Marine uncomfortable. They have to be able to trust you when overseas so you need to build that trust here.

Trimming the friends list doesn't always work if you don't know who is submitting your pictures. I have had friends on my page who I thought were good friends who didn't do this but had betrayed me in other ways. Sometimes.. you trust the wrong people.

Boobsy McNicehiney --- 12 years ago -

I agree.

It's bs. Maybe they need to trim out the sexual harasers a bit more.

This!

MusicNote (Mod) --- 12 years ago -

Okay, well I never said it was okay to harass anyone- indeed it is not. HOWEVER, she SHOULD be proactive and lock up her shiznit because it's plain DUMB not to do so.

Dontchawish --- 12 years ago -

Maybe I'm a Dbag for saying this but I think JTTOTS is hilarious. Yes, they go too far sometimes. Wimins (in the military) need to stop taking trashy pics of themselves in uniform (or civvies) and posting them all over the internet. That being said it doesn't give anyone the right to sexually or otherwise harass someone either.

Wimins in general need to stop doing this - especially any woman who wants to be taken seriously in any workplace.

There are a lot of teen girls out there who are going to be in for a rude awakening when they enter the workforce...

Unless, of course, they aspire to be the star performer at Olivia's.

Bahahahha LMK. This is where we agree.

I try making this clear to one of my family members. She is 19 years old and going through school for nursing in a very small town. I have a feeling that she is going to be very uncomfortable at work if some of the people who see her pictures all over the web come in as patients. She has been getting a lot of male attention but obviously the wrong kind.

Champ --- 12 years ago -

I read a lot of those pages, they make me laugh a great deal, but a lot of the stuff mentioned in this article isn't whjat I would call "normal" behavior, and does cross the line into harassment. A stolen picture is one thing, but millions of requests, and death threats to random on lookers, is just a bit much. I do find it hilarious that the USMC has been monitoring some of these sites for years. I think they just like the read. :)
