Am I loosing it? Did they do away with all the cribs that you can pull the front down and back up? Im looking for one and cant find it. Im so going to wake my kid up everytime I bend my bad back that far down in the crib to put him to bed. What idiot mother made all the crib companies do this?
Signed, consumer/mother/mother that doesnt put my kids safety at risk.
You know what I'm glad mine was recalled, hahaha it bought Emma a brand new crib in a color I actually liked. But actually right now I'm HATING the non drop side we had Ethan's crib as a sidecar, not a problem when the crib was at its highest point, now that we lowered the mattress- BODY ACHES getting him in and out in the middle of the night. He likes to snuggle.
You can still get ones with metal. The ones with the plastic parts are the problem. The plastic warped and broke so kids were getting trapped and dieing. One of the few legit recalls unlike Bumbo etc. We had one that broke but luckily my kid cried and I went in to check on her. This time we're building her crib so i know it wont be cheap foriegn junk and I found the kit with the metal sliders and a kit with the fold down side so I just have to decide what I want to do.
You can still find some online resale that have the dropside. I've seen some antique cribs on Craigslist with the metal even.
Yes I'm aware it's illegal but people still do it and its only illegal if the specific brand was recalled by CPSC rather than a voluntary recall done but the company. Its not recommended to sell them but again unless there was an official recall on that brand, its not illegal and not all brands were recalled. It is illegal to sell them new as of 2011 bc they no longer meet the new safety standards. So if someone wanted one they could find it and buy it. It's not illegal to buy them. :)
Yeah some accidents I agree with. A truly faulty product where a lot are causing death.. Idk mixed feelings. They should have stuck with the metal (which was never recalled and isn't illegal to sell) rather than going to cheap plastic.
Dear "Mom" (LMK), Maybe it's like "deployment syndrome".... He knows he is leaving and it's better to fight than to worry about being homesick and being scared of the new adventure. Good Luck to the boy!
