Kaci --- 10 years ago -

i have hardwood floors throughout my house, with the exception of my 3 bedrooms, we have a canister vacuum now, and i really like it for the hardwood but it doesnt do well at all on the carpet, so id like something that does well on both.
we owned a kirby for all of a week, not worth the money or trouble, in my opinion.(changing out all the heads, hooking up hose, etc)
anybody have any suggestions on vacuums that do well on both??

BOOM BOOM BOOM --- 10 years ago -

Changing the heads? You need one head for both hardwood and carpet on a Kirby. Kirby is the shiiiznit!

Kaci --- 10 years ago -

i just remember having to change something on the front of it, and attaching the hose, and that thing is huge to lug around, i know most all kirby owners swear by them, it just wasnt my cup of tea :( ESP not for the price.

You take the head off to use the attachments. Not real hard. And it's light considering how well the product is made and the materials that it's made of. Not all plastic like these other expensive ones. I love the lifetime warranty! I'll never buy another one as long as I live! Plus it's hand held when you take the top off. It is a wet cleaner too and great for pet hair. I could go on and on about how great it is!

Have fun with a plastic one that doesn't suck in air as good as the Kirby does!

Lug? As in use the handle on it to lift it up and carry it? It's easy to carry.

Anyway Dyson has always been a competitor if that helps. I've owned two and paid a nice wad of cash for both but Kirby does so much more than a Dyson ever will.

hookerfamily --- 10 years ago -

We have the Dyson Animal and like it. It is a canister and it works well on our carpet and hard floors. There is a button, next to the power button, that turns the brushes in the head off for the hard floors.

Dyson!!! Find a cheaper price for a refurbished one off Amazon with free two day shipping if you're prime

GroomingMyWay --- 10 years ago -

I love my DYSON ANIMAL HElZ yeah..that is the chit..

Kaci --- 10 years ago -

ive been looking at a dyson canister vac, just wondered if they were actually as a amazing as they seemed online lol

Little Miss Knowitall --- 10 years ago -

I have a kenmore canister with a power head for the carpets. It's 10 yrs old and been mightly abused, still runs like a charm!

Libby --- 10 years ago -

Dyson! I have a Dyson Animal that we purchased brand new in 2004. It still works as well today as the day we bought it. They are pricey, but worth it!

O_O -_- O_O

Is that... LIBBY I see? Dang girl, long time no visit us!

Dontchawish --- 10 years ago -

We have a Bissel Pet. Works like a champ. My parents have a Rainbow. It is the best vacum I have ever used. Lasts forever. Pricey though

MrsSmitty10 --- 10 years ago -

Any vacuum updates? We are in the market. We hate our bissel.

We have no pets and will never have any.
Would need something that works well on carpet and laminate.
Would love one with a lift away canister to make stair cleaning easier.
Want Bagless.

Anyone have suggestions for me?

WooTang (Mod) --- 10 years ago -

We just got the shark navigator deluxe. It has a button for bare floors and with another click, the rollers turn on and it works on carpets. I actually love it! We dont have pets and dont plan on it either, so there was no need for all this fancy pet stuff. Its completely bagless and all you do is push the button to release the canister and your good to go. This was the hubbys choice and he did really well with it. I feel like its money well spent.

We have this too. It's a beast. Had it for about 6 months now or so and no complaints as of yet.

Yup yup. I couldnt believe the difference in my carpets from my old vac to this one.

I've had my Kirby for 5 years and never had a problem with it and it does its job and then some. $1200 may seem like a lot but it has a lifetime warranty. Does your vacuum have that?

My vacuum is called a Shark. It will eat your lifetime warranty.

BOOM BOOM BOOM --- 10 years ago -

Yea I have gone through two shark steam mops. They are great and all but break easily.

MrsSmitty10 --- 10 years ago -

Wonderful! I will look into the shark navigator deluxe. Sounds like we have the same vacuuming needs (ha). How's the suction power, and ease of cleaning filters?

$1200 is a wee bit out of our vacuum budget.

It's powerful. So powerful, that there is a vent to open incase you don't need so much suction. cleaning is extremely simple too. No, I am not a Shark navigator deluxe salesman.

MrsSmitty10 --- 10 years ago -

Can you find me a link to one? I looked up "shark navigator deluxe" and it brought me multiple styles. I'm not sure which is the one you guys are specifically talking about.

Thx!

Just bought the shark you guys recommended. I demoed it at bed bath and beyond Monday and really like it.

I bought it at kohls for $150 after the discount and got $30 in kohls cash. It came with extra dust pads, a pet upholstery tool and extra crevice tool too! It was $200 at BBB and Amazon so I got a great deal.

Looking forward to trashing our bissell!

Thanks soooo much for your recommendation.

After watching video (I wish I hadn't) I still stand by the Kirby as it doesn't push "Cheerios" around the floor and has far better suction. I rather pick the Cheerios up myself than drag that contraption out to "try" and pick it up.

But hope it works out for ya smitty! : )

Little Miss Knowitall --- 10 years ago -

From the video, it doesn't look very sturdy. :-/

BOOM BOOM BOOM --- 10 years ago -

Hopefully it comes with some type of warranty.
