Any spaces for rent? Trying to get an idea of rental prices. I am aware that it will be more expensive in strip malls, just trying to get an idea of area prices. I hear Havelock is very expensive.

Allen --- 5 years ago -

Yea, the closer to the beach, the higher the prices. Come to New Bern.

bear town

Vicky (Mod) --- 5 years ago -

There is a space across from Dairy Queen where a dress and oriental food mart was. ScizzorTalk is above it. Next to Rentalland and Fastenal (I think).

Havelock's prices have nothing to do with being closer to the beach. It has to do with the families that own the properties.

Stay away from the strip mall where Mario's is.

Allen --- 5 years ago -

whatever

Fiction --- 5 years ago -

Havelock is a death pit for businesses. Have you not seen all the empty run down buildings?

I'd go to New Bern or MHC.....

BOOM BOOM BOOM --- 5 years ago -

Depends in what type of business is set up.

Guess those businesses sucked.

BOOM BOOM BOOM --- 5 years ago -

No they all did not suck. Some of them got their rent raised by...a lot. Others were blindsided by Walmart and the stupid median they put in.

Allen --- 5 years ago -

Fiction raises a good point. Morehead Harris-Teeter is dead though. New Bern HT Rocks. There is seasonality effects east of New Bern. New Bern is stable year round. Havelock is maybe in between physically and financially.

My question was if anyone had seen any places around for rent. You don't live here anymore. Why are you yapping?

BOOM BOOM BOOM --- 5 years ago -

I still have many friends who live there and I still do go down there to visit. So you could say I'm on the up and up and those are the main reasons why businesses don't last and it hasn't changed since I've left.

Which has nothing to do with whether or not you saw a building for rent....

BOOM BOOM BOOM --- 5 years ago -

The same building that were for rent ARE STILL for rent.

Boobsy McNicehiney --- 5 years ago -

You know what you remind me of?

Not true - Donna Comer has rented at least two of her units out now.

The former Swiss Chalet is now rented and will have a new business shortly.

Wanna try again?

Best. Response. Ever.

BOOM BOOM BOOM --- 5 years ago -

So you are saying Donna still have store fronts to rent? = still for rent.

Never heard of the Swiss crap.

I did hear y'all are getting or have gotten an Ihop in MHC? The one is NB is quite scary.

Fiction --- 5 years ago -

If someone was smart enough to build a Chuck E. Cheese in Havelock, they'd make a killing.

All kinds of little military brats that could run rampant in that place.

Boobsy McNicehiney --- 5 years ago -

I'm opening something to feed the miserable Walmartasaurases and housefraus. I know it will do well, but I need a good location. You all are as helpful as a box of hair.

Fiction --- 5 years ago -

There are some open buildings near the "Cadence" restaurant.

Pretty sure that building used to be a restaurant as well, so that might be of benefit to your business.

What kind of food?

BOOM BOOM BOOM --- 5 years ago -

Boobsy. You are better off opening one up in NB or MHC. Those places don't do well here or NP. If I'm thinking the right thing you want to sell.

BOOM BOOM BOOM --- 5 years ago -

Yea why on earth there isn't a chucke cheese is beyond me too

WooTang (Mod) --- 5 years ago -

Speaking of that Cadence place....I never see people there...ever. Anyone ever eat there?

Fiction --- 5 years ago -

Nope. We were gonna go, but looked at the menu and it seemed a bit pricey. At least for us.

Little Miss Knowitall --- 5 years ago -

I moved to the Havelock area to get away from all the traffic that chain stores/restaurants bring. I like the sleepy town feel.

I NEVER thought I would see the day Walmart would come to Havelock.

If I want to shop, I gladly go to Raleigh for the weekend or make the quick drive to MHC/New Bern or make a day of it in J'ville or G'ville.

Havelock will never be a booming metropolis. It doesn't have the infrastructure and the permanent residents don't want to pay the taxes to support the improvements needed to bring major retail to the area.

It is what it is.

Vicky (Mod) --- 5 years ago -

nvm

MrsSmitty10 --- 5 years ago -

What's going in place of the Swiss chalet? I miss working there immensely. Is it another bakery?

They had to leave aburptly to care for Ill family in Switzerland (where they're from) and had such a tough time selling that place. Makes me so sad. Wonderful family.

Thanks for the update! Haven't been able to get ahold of my former boss in months.

GroomingMyWay --- 5 years ago -

im not sure if its for rent or sale but the little Italian restaurant that closed down year or so ago i think it was call Capriotti's its across from the city park next to the Hess station. might look there..again ive been gone since july so im not sure if its still available

Allen --- 5 years ago -

A good business plan for Havelock may be a nice tit-te bar, just saying.

Little Miss Knowitall --- 5 years ago -

Costello's? That's been closed for at least 5 years. The building is for sale and is way overpriced.

MrsSmitty,

A barber shop is going in where Swiss Chalet was.
