What is a good school to take online courses? I was going to UoP but I really did not like how the instructors seemed to just pass everyone through. I want a school that actually cares whether or not the students are learning the material. I know that with most for profit schools their goal is to just get as many students to take the courses as possible, just wondering if anyone had a better experience anywhere else.

Sorry if I offend anyone here BUT..........UOP is a degree mill school. You are basically paying for the piece of paper and not really being taught much of anything. I have done extensive research on online schools before deciding which one to go to. Most employers dont give much credit to degrees from UOP. In fact, there are even some states that will not recognize certain degree programs from the school. Nursing was one of them but I dont know if it has changed over the past few years.

There are quite a few schools with online programs that have offices here at Cherry Point that you could go in and talk to. There is Park University and Boston University.

However, if you are working on your associates, i strongly suggest you take them from one of the community colleges: Craven or Carteret. Both of them offer online classes and are serious about their education. They are a lower cost tuition and provide the same gen ed classes as major universities, just a fraction of the cost.

Make sure wherever you go is accredited. Look into ECU

Look into UMUC (University of Maryland University College)

They are accredited, online, very military friendly (they are one of two colleges on the military bases in Okinawa)

8 week terms, $750 per 3 credit hours

6 credit hours per term is considered a full time student

Make sure the school is REGIONALLY accredited as well as Nationally.

I took classes online with Western Governors University.

You pay the same amount per semester and have to take a minimum of three classes but can take as many as you want and they are tough classes!

Penn state- they have a world campus that is SUPER affordable, in comparison to other online schools. I would not recommend Kaplan.

I would not recommend Kaplan.

why not? My sister in law has been attending kaplan for almost 2 years and loves it.

I am about to finish my BA with Columbia College. I chose them because they are not a mill and they have regional accreditation and an actual campus in Missouri where people I graduated HS with actually WENT for college. I have enjoyed my experience with them and feel I've gotten a quality education in history.

I recommend without reservation. The school's website is at http://www.ccis.edu

Because they charge way too much, have IDIOT professors, have IDIOT students (some of them), and a lot of their credits do not transfer.
